"I am supporting Julian Cyr for state Senate because he is the candidate who has a comprehensive plan to stem this bleak tide. He believes as I do that treatment is key. His plan calls not just for more beds in treatment centers, but for long-term treatment because no one overcomes opioid addiction in 30 days. I want to do everything I can to make sure no one else goes down this road. For me, that means voting for a candidate who is committed to taking this crisis seriously. I believe that candidate is Julian Cyr." - Candace Hammond
Thank you Candace for sharing your family's story and for all the work you continue to do to help others manage while a loved one struggles with addiction. I'm grateful for your faith in me and I'm eager to get to work on Beacon Hill if I'm elected as State Senator. - Julian
“The stakes couldn’t be higher for working families in this election, and we need to elect champions who share our commitment to quality jobs, quality care and true economic and racial justice for all. Julian Cyr is a dedicated leader who will stand with us on our issues and will fight with us to build a better future for our families. We are proud to endorse him for election to the Massachusetts Senate.”
- Tyrék D. Lee, Sr., Executive Vice President of 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.
“Julian Cyr respects and supports the work registered nurses do every day to protect our patients and our profession. From his experience working in public health, Julian clearly understands the vital role nurses play in delivering safe, high-quality patient care and will advocate for efforts to improve that care.”
- MNA President Donna Kelly-Williams
“In my six years in the Legislature, I have worked with Julian Cyr on a myriad of issues: services for our seniors, containing health care costs, anti-bullying for LGBTQ youth, and racial justice. As a registered nurse, I know that Julian is exactly the sort of champion we need for nurses and working families. I enthusiastically support his candidacy.”
- State Representative Denise Garlick (D-Needham)

"As the Democratic race for state senator enters an important phase, I feel compelled to state my support for the candidate I feel is best-suited to be the voice for the region. That candidate is Julian Cyr. He is a smart, doggedly hard worker and, above all, truly loves and cares about Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket on all fronts.' - Suzanne Condon, former Associate Commissioner at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health
Candidate Julian Cyr, who worked for the state Department of Public Health and is on the board of Health Imperatives, which manages several locations on the Cape, including a reproductive health facility in Hyannis, called the lack of access “unacceptable.”
“This is an issue of equity,” he said. “I’m interested in how we can figure out how to make sure that there’s elective abortion access here on the Cape and also all of the other communities in Massachusetts.”
Cyr also pointed out that the distance is even more of a challenge for people living on the Islands.
“We have no elective abortion access here on the Cape, so that means Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard are even more isolated,” he said.
